Country Hills Montessori

Our School

Country Hills Montessori's Mission is to Value Children's Independence.

Our Mission

At Country Hills Montessori, our children learn that their independence is valued. We encourage free movement, choice within carefully crafted limits, and make sure they know their voices are heard. As children get older, they begin to learn about time management. We teach them practical life skills, such as cleaning and preparing food, that can be used in the classroom, home, and beyond. This emphasis on independence gives children a tremendous sense of empowerment.

About the Montessori Method

Based on the philosophy that students learn best by self-directed activities and by observing the practical world around them, the Montessori method was established by Dr. Maria Montessori in the 1890s and continues to have a life-changing impact on its students.

About Country Hills Montessori

An Educational Oasis for Your Child:

Country Hills Montessori offers individual attention in a nurturing environment. Located on one acre in Farmington Hills, Michigan, our campus is beautiful and rich in history.

Tall trees and a quiet neighborhood surround the nurturing, learning environment of Country Hills Montessori, creating an educational oasis for children.

Country Hills is located in a homey, nature part of Farmington Hills. We offer programs to children ages 14 months to 9 years as well as a summer program. Each of these programs offers mixed age groups, so children are able to adapt to working with others.

Country Hills prides itself on its individual approach to education and offers different educational experiences for every child. Children are able to choose the subjects they want to study, depending on their interests. Some of these options include art, music, foreign language, gymnastics, dance and ballet, ukulele, gardening, creative movement, science, math, geography, and reading skills. Throughout their curriculum, children are encouraged to reason, cooperate, negotiate, and understand.

Country Hills also sets itself apart from other schools by offering a large, private play area to encourage its students’ physical education. Kids love the water park splash pad and the umbrella-covered sandbox engineered specifically for the school. Parents love that they can come to school whenever they please and watch their child from one of the observational windows and cameras.

Enrichment experiences, which are also valued at Country Hills, are offered for every age group that attends the school. These experiences include field trips, in-house visitors and specialized instructors that broaden the children’s knowledge and understanding. Children are also able to perform at recitals, allowing them to showcase what they have learned to their family and peers.

Country Hills’ educational approach for children has been so successful that we now offer an elementary program for children ages 6 to 9. Like the other programs, the elementary class has mixed-aged children and the children transition from sensory learning to more abstract learning.

“My daughter started at Country Hills when she was 4 years old and has been with Miss Michelle for preschool and will be for Kindergarten as well. She enjoys everything she learns there and looks forward to going every single day! I am at ease with the safety the school provides and the classroom is always spotless. We are so lucky to have found this school. The hours are flexible from start to end of day and I love that they provide nutritious meals for my child as well. The summer camp is awesome and offers a splash pad that is fun for the kids. Ms. Tanya and her staff have made such a positive impact on my child’s life and learning and we couldn’t be happier!”
